Startup Office Hours: Hive, Hatch or Spartan Innovations

Share your experience as an entrepreneur with MSU student and faculty startups. Describe your skills and experiences, and startup teams will sign up to benefit from your guidance. Scheduling is managed by Spartan Innovations staff – volunteer mentors help make a difference by committing to timetables that work with their schedules. |  Email to learn more

Classroom Guest: The Hive

Freshman and sophomore students enrolled in the Hive’s early entrepreneurship program benefit from in-classroom guest speaker interaction. This interactive classroom identifies projects and business ideas, and seeks virtual or in-person speakers on topics such as business development.  Commitment: 1 hour classroom presentation held on MSU’s campus. | Email to learn more

Student Org Guest: MSU Entrepreneurship Association

MSU students interested in entrepreneurship join the MSU Entrepreneurship Association and attend monthly meetings with speakers who engage 40-80 students (in person or virtually) on specific, pre-identified topics. Students have requested more exposure to topics such as fundraising, market research, promotion, valuation. Innovate State: MSU Innovators Speaker Series

In Fall 2014, MSU launched an entrepreneurship-forward speaker series called Innovate State, to help give students more exposure to special topics in entrepreneurship, startups, small business growth and emerging technology. Groups of students and professionals in the entrepreneurship ecosystem in East Lansing attend these events. Presentation Feedback & Coaching: SXSW Pitch Competition

Michigan State University is the only school to send student teams to the Entrepreneurial 8 finals three years running in the South By Southwest Business Pitch Competition, Student Startup Madness, held annually in Austin, TX. Student teams benefit from practicepresentations given to professionals who can ask tough questions and give constructive feedback. Teams practice with professionals before heading to SXSW in March, 2015. Commitment: Attend pitch evaluation panel virtually or in person in Late January/early February. Attendee provides feedback for a student team to improve their business pitch for SXSW Interactive. | Email to learn more

Spartan Innovations: Mentor In Residence

Interested in a deeper commitment to helping MSU startups?  We are always looking for talented entrepreneurs to take the reins on one or more of our startup projects, and lead the business development planning that takes an idea to the marketplace on an investable startup. Women in Entrepreneurship Affinity Group
